Best HTML5 Gallery Circa 2011

HTML, or HyperText Markup Language, is the most important element of the World Wide Web. It’s the language used to describe what a webpage should look like. However, HTML on its own is pretty boring because it can only deliver static pages; in order to meet the growing demand for more impressive web features, HTML has been coupled with plugins like CSS, Flash, Java, Silverlight, etc.

As of 2017 the 2nd edition of the 5th major version, first minor revision of the core language of the World Wide Web: the Hypertext Markup Language (HTML). In this version, a significant error with HTML 5.1 has been rectified, as noted in the Errata corrected section. Meanwhile, new features continue to be introduced to help Web application authors, new elements continue to be introduced based on research into prevailing authoring practices, and special attention continues to be given to defining clear conformance criteria for user agents in an effort to improve interoperability in the development of HTML 5.2.

Best HTML5 Gallery presented what its owners deemed were the best examples of HTML5 templates.

Wikipedia:
HTML5 is a markup language used for structuring and presenting content on the World Wide Web. It is the fifth and current major version of the HTML standard.

Lots of changes have occurred on the World Wide Web since this site's 2011 content was created. With HTML 5.2 new features continue to be introduced to help Web application authors, new elements continue to be introduced based on research into prevailing authoring practices, and special attention continues to be given to defining clear conformance criteria for user agents in an effort to improve interoperability. Since the split between W3C, who wanted to draw a line in the sand for features for a HTML 5.0 Recommendation, and WHATWG (The Web Hypertext Application Technology Working Group is a community of people interested in evolving HTML and related technologies.) who wanted to continue working on a Living Standard for HTML, the W3C Web Platform WG has been cherry picking patches from the WHATWG that resolved bugs registered on the W3C HTML specification. Although patches from WHATWG HTML specification have been merged, the W3C HTML editors have also added patches that resulted from discussions and decisions made by the W3C Web Platform WG, as well a bug fixes from bugs not shared by the WHATWG.

Those of us, that includes me, who are most interested in applying these technologies to our clients' websites see them as major opportunities to improve the online experience. We can now run full wide video in the background on webpages while also running many concurrent animations or videos. And we can optimize the perceived resolution and color balances of images with stunning results. As designers, we're always on the lookout for projects where art and design are the primary attractant. One such project was super exciting, since it involved one or our mythic heroes - Batman. My team is made up of some very rabid fans of the Dark Knight and jumped at the opportunity to show off some very sophisticated techniques we used to get the art printed onto apparel to pop on a computer screen. Our work for MoonAtMidnight.com was featured in Photog for the gorgeous images sublimated onto their Batman t shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, etc. recognizing their worldwide allure. The prints are high rez and brilliantly rendered art, and the new html5 capabilities enable an elegant viewing of the Dark Knight's adventures. See for yourself. Especially note the t shirts from the most recent movies - they're the ones with the sublimated prints, and boy, to they ever pop! Html5 was made for this kind of work.

Whether you know anything about web development or not, the concept can be somewhat nebulous and confusing. Obviously, HTML5 is the next step in the line of HTML, but what exactly does it do? Why is there so much excitement around it? And why does it matter for you?

It has become something of a bloated mess and different browsers implement those features in their own ways. HTML5 is meant to solve HTML’s big problems for a cleaner and more efficient web.

WHAT IS HTML5?
